DICE appoints Operations Manager

Speaking to the ZO, Louise said she appreciates DICE's approach to charity; one that has no label, nor does it have any politics, with its commitment to people focusing on the care of children and the elderly

LOUISE Brockmann recently assumed the position of DICE (Do I Care Enough?) Operations Manager.

Speaking to the ZO, Louise said she appreciates DICE’s approach to charity; one that has no label, nor does it have any politics, with its commitment to people focusing on the care of children and the elderly.

Her appointment comes at a time at which the need for DICE-support continues to grow as the plight of the poverty-stricken grows.

Having arrived in Zululand in 2011, Louise has been involved in a number of organisations such as Rotary and LifeLine and also established her own feeding scheme; sourcing the products, cooking and feeding the homeless.

On a personal level, the married mother of two, is a trauma- and lay counsellor who is always willing to lend a hand wherever she can.

‘I have always had a heart for those in need.

‘This falls in line with what DICE aims to achieve, helping, educating and supporting people who often do not have the means to do it by themselves,’ she said.

Louise further placed emphasis on Zululand as being an area where poverty is rife.

‘The need is greater here because of the vastness of the area.

‘This place is so beautiful and it has so much to offer in terms of tourism that people often times forget about those who live here.

‘Many visitors come here for fun but amid the beauty and tourist attractions we find extreme poverty,’ she said.

With the year drawing to a close and the festive season fast approaching, Louise is already busy with DICE’s annual Christmas Cheer Campaign.

‘Charity starts at home and no contribution to the well-being of anyone in need is too small.

‘I am excited in this new venture of being a part of DICE and what the organisation stands for, and I would like to see local businesses become more involved in assisting the needy in local communities.

‘I am a firm believer that Zululand money should stay within Zululand, from both a donation and business perspective,’ she said.

Louise said she looks forward to a full DICE 2018 Calendar where DICE projects such as Winter Warmth, support of needy senior citizens and DICE adopted crèches and orphanages, Christmas Cheer – to mention but a few – will continue.
