Beauty therapist Nompilo lives her dream
Nompilo would treat her mother to facials and then manicures, and the pair would spend hours in front of the mirror learning how to apply makeup
EVERY night little Nompilo Mtshali of Ngwelezana would wait for her exhausted mother to return from work, and tenderly rub her aching feet.
As she grew older, Nompilo would treat her mother to facials and then manicures, and the pair would spend hours in front of the mirror learning how to apply makeup.
The little girl grew up, and is now a professional beauty therapist living her dreams and changing people’s lives with her healing hands.
‘I didn’t want to do anything else with my life and when I finished school, I already knew what I wanted do,’ she said.
‘I love people and I like to make them look and feel beautiful.
She wants other young girls to realise that hers is a solid career choice, and that anything is possible through hard word and focus.
After obtaining her National Senior Certificate in matric, dedication and commitment to furthering her studies saw her obtain a diploma in skin care from The Academy of Beauty Therapy, and then an advanced therapy qualification.
Today, she is a well-loved professional therapist at Empangeni’s popular Salon Elegance, and loves the variety of people she meets every day.
Her future plans include educating other young girls about the industry by opening a training academy, which will equip young women with professional beauty therapy skills.
This mother of two says education will provide others with opportunities.
‘Don’t underestimate a career in beauty therapy – it is in high demand and can offer many young girls a future.’
