
A VEHICLE was recovered on Thursday night in the Ntilingwe area soon after it was hijacked at Zondela.
According to Ulundi SAPS spokesperson, Captain Nkosi Gwala, two hijackers used the P700 through Ntamabanana, as their escape route.
This comes less than a week after KZN MEC for Transport and Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda, told the ZO that he was aware of perpetrators using the newly developed road for criminal activity.
According to reports, a white Toyota Hilux single cab bakkie was hijacked at Zondela at about 9pm on Thursday night
‘Ulundi K9, Ulundi POP and traffic officials gave chase and were joined by police from Ntambanana and Okhukho..
‘The vehicle was tracked and recovered at Ntilingwe. Unfortunately the two perpetrators managed to escape,’ said Gwala.
