UMHLATHUZE Village residents walking their dogs to the Empangeni SPCA came across a decomposed body floating in a nearby stream yesterday.
Zakhele Sithole (60) and Mthokozisi Zulu (16) were taking their dogs to be vaccinated when, while walking through the veld alongside the Ngwelezane Bypass, their dogs ran off into the bush.
Zulu ran after the dogs only to find a rotting body lying in the water.
Zulu called out for Sithole who then alerted a neighbour, subsequently contacting the Zululand Observer and the Empangeni SAPS.
‘The severely decomposed body has been removed and taken to the government mortuary in Richards Bay. An inquest has been opened and is under investigation however at this stage, the identity of the person is unknown,’ said Empangeni SAPS spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose.
‘We suspect that it could be a female because the person had on a red and black long sleeved shirt with a red and blue skirt,’ added Mdlalose.

The Government should resume dearth sentence and it could save lot and lot of peoples lives. This is sad because it happens to the people we know most whereas the government or state it doesn’t happened to their community nearby and I think that’s why they are so ignorant. If state kept on ignoring us we should take it to the street and force government to release old system
