Capacity building for taxi operators and drivers
KZN Taxi Commuter and Corporation Training Academy representative Zama Zincume says more workshops are needed so that taxi operators can improve their services and customer relationships

EQUIPPING taxi operators with the necessary skills and expertise needed for the running of their taxi businesses, is what will improve this sector.
KZN Taxi Commuter and Corporation Training Academy representative Zama Zincume says more workshops are needed so that taxi operators can improve their services and customer relationships.
Six taxi associations attended a workshop at Mandeni – Mandeni/Sundumbili, Stanger/kwaDukuza, Dolphin Coast, Siqalokuhle/ Tongaat, Nembe/Macambini and Glenhills.
Zincume said the intention of the workshop was to empower senior officials, including taxi drivers, on how best to regulate the industry and to make them aware of what is expected of them by commuters.
Zincume said they were grateful for the intervention of the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) in organising the workshop, which also served to broker peace in the industry marred by violence for many years.
‘Our goal is to foster peace and strengthen working relations within each taxi association involved in this programme. We don’t want to see violence tarnishing this industry. ‘We will continue holding similar programmes in other regions.
