An old favourite for The George

THE George Hotel will be hosting Wendy Oldfield on Saturday at 6pm.

Oldfield has been creating top class music for over 30 years.

She has recorded eight albums, been nominated for 9 Sama awards, of which she has won five for Best Vocals, Song of the Year, Best Pop Album and two Best Producer awards.

She has produced music for Leon Schuster movies, documentary soundtracks for Londolozi films and many jingles.

She supported the group ‘Wet Wet Wet’ in 1996 and toured SA with Simply Red in 1999. Oldfield has performed at over 2 500 shows at festivals, clubs, bars and the top SA music venues with big bands and acoustic line-ups.

She has collaborated with some of the country’s top artists, including Arno Carstens, Karen Zoid, PJ Powers, Brenda Fassie, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse and Vusi Mahlasela.

At the beginning of this year she released her new album ‘Supernova’ and on the strength of this work she was invited to attend the Edinburgh Festival where she performed 26 shows and wowed audiences with her song ‘Burden’.

Wendy is back in KZN again with talented Joe van der Linden for a few shows.

She will be singing songs spanning her whole career.

Expect to hear Acid Rain, Holy Water, Legalize and many more.

Her unique style of singing and djembe playing along with Joe’s incredible versatility will blow your mind.
