King Cetshwayo’s wins continue

The local outfit was at full strength and well rested for the fixture after Saturday's T20 match against African Warriors and KZN Coastals match against Limpopo was called off owing to bad weather

RH CONSTRUCTION King Cetshwayo’s run of success continued on Sunday when the local squad outplayed UKZN in a Castle Premier League T20 match played at Hammond Field.

The local outfit was at full strength and well rested for the fixture after Saturday’s T20 match against African Warriors and KZN Coastals match against Limpopo was called off owing to bad weather.

UKZN padded up first and set a defendable total of 141/4

Jason Redinger led the King Cetshwayo attack with 1/14 in 3 and was well supported by left-arm orthodox spinner

Stephan Joubert (1/16 in 3) and paceman Dale van der Merwe (1/38 in 4).

Despite not picking up a stick, the efforts of speedster Neill Jordan (0/15 in 4) and 2016/2017 Player of the Year

Ruan Janse van Rensburg (0/32 in 4) added pressure to stem the run rate.

Speedster Neill Jordan failed to pick up a stick, but with his applied pressure, aided the team to an overall victory

King Cetshwayo got off to a disastrous start, with captain Eugene Zwart and Redinger being dismissed for a duck and 1 respectively.

The woes continued for the Zululand side, with the scoreboard reading 15/4 at one stage.

But with left-hander Joubert (20), Zakhele Ntuli (32), Bruce Tembo (25 not out) and Simon Savides (49 not out) restoring order, the Zululanders managed to reach the required total in the 18th over for a four wicket victory.

The squad will be in action again this weekend when they take on Crusaders at Addison Park in a T20 encounter on Saturday and host Delta at Addison Park in a 50 over clash on Sunday.

Locals are urged to come out and support the boys who are in form and playing good cricket.
