NOTICE: John Ross closed on Sunday
Motorists are advised to use the N2 and R619 as alternative routes to and from Richards Bay during this period

THE John Ross Parkway (R34) will be closed on Sunday from 9am to 1pm as engineers change over from the westbound carriageway to the eastbound lane.
Motorists are advised to use the N2 and R619 as alternative routes to and from Richards Bay during this period.
Following an on-site meeting this afternoon, the City of uMhlathuze issued a media statement, which read: ‘Kindly take note that the John Ross Highway revamp has been completed and traffic will be switched to the east bound carriageway.

‘The road will be closed on Sunday from 09h00 to 13h00. Road users are urged to cooperate.’
The changeover comes after part of the westbound carriageway collapsed, forming a massive sinkhole in August.
As work on the provincial road inches closer to completion, reports indicate that it may even finish before the original 10 week deadline, which started on 5 September.
