District NFP hard at work
NFP President Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi disbanded the party's leadership structures earlier this year and instructed members to focus on branch recruitment in preparation for the December conference
MEMBERS the National Freedom Party in the Cetshwayo Region believe their organisation still has a place in South African politics.
NFP President Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi disbanded the party’s leadership structures earlier this year and instructed members to focus on branch recruitment in preparation for the December conference.
The two King Cetshwayo interim leaders, Sabelo Mchunu and Gqokubuhle Ngema, said they are now working according to this directive.
‘We are working hard to ensure that all branches and sub-regions within this district are ready before December.
‘We are not working for our own personal gain, but we want to see people of this country getting what they deserve through our party polices.
‘We know there are still matters before the court after kaMagwaza-Msibi disbanded the leadership structures, with some members unhappy and saying the decision was not justified.
‘But our mission is to do our job and not to focus on the court battles. The party belongs to the people in the branches,’ said Ngema.
The two agreed NFP support declined compared to the 2011 local government election in which the party won several municipalities across the province.
Ngema claims the decline is a result of internal instability within the party.
‘The NFP is still alive and well and we still have a good chance of making an impact in the 2019 general election.’
Mchunu said they are currently working with everybody who share the goal of uniting and reviving the NFP.
‘We have nothing to do with court battles, we are preparing for a conference where real leaders will be elected. So far we are executing the mandate given to us – building a strong foundation, which are the branches,’he said.
