New iNduna prioritises fight against crime

New iNduna equal to the task

NEWLY inaugurated iNduna of Matshana Reserve, Wilfred Zungu, has vowed to cleanse the area of criminal activity.

In his inauguration address last week, Zungu said criminals should start looking for accommodation elsewhere, because ‘Matshana was no longer their playground’.

‘My starting point will be to form local crime combatting structures such as a Community Policing Forum, which I believe will help us a great deal to reduce crime that is ravaging this area.

‘I will be at the forefront of curbing drug abuse and robbery. I will also work hard to unite all communities and promote community development projects such as farming,’ he said.

A no-nonsense Zungu was inaugurated by the head of the Madlebe Traditional Authority, iNkosi Zenzo Zungu, at Amangwe High School to the delight of amabutho, iziNduna and local churches.

Deputy Chairperson of the Madlebe Traditional Council, Philemon Mndaba, challenged the new iNduna to restore the dignity and beauty of Matshana.

‘People as far afield as Port Durnford used to come here in search of better education. This school (Amangwe) was the fountain of knowledge.

‘Many academics and prominent politicians come from this area. Their education was shaped here at this school,’ said Mndaba.
