POLICE have issued a warning to all livestock owners to be aware of the new modus operandi stock thieves use
in the province.
Police spokesperson Col Themba Mbhele said they have noted that criminals are now targeting the stock theft victims directly and con them out of their hard earned money.
She explained that the criminals pretend to be police officers from the Stock Theft Unit in the province, or from neighbouring provinces investigating their cases.
‘They tell their victims they have found their stolen livestock from another province and demand a deposit from R2 000 upwards so that their livestock can be transported back home.
She added the criminals especially target victims close to the borders.
