ECR General Manager, Boni Mchunu said the move followed a recent survey about the quality of the station’s FM signals in which Richards Bay was identified as an area with particularly poor signal.
‘We see a lot of potential going forward.
‘Richards Bay is the third biggest economy in KZN, so for us as a radio station it just makes business sense for us to be here.

‘So we are really looking forward to working with business, as well as local government and with the community here; we want to win the hearts and souls of the people of Richards Bay,’ she said.
Members of the public can now listen to KZN’s leading commercial radio station loud and clear on 96.1FM.

The official launch took place at Cubana in Richards Bay on Friday afternoon and saw a number of prominent VIPs make an appearance.
Among them was King Cetshwayo District Mayor Ntombenhle Mkhulisi, who welcomed ECR into the region.
