THUTHUKANI Special School hosted a carnival at the Rugby Club in Empangeni on Saturday as a fund-raiser drive.
There were a number of treats on sale and plenty of activities for the community to support the education of children.
Deputy Principal Tanya Girvin thanked the community for the support.

Despite the success of the carnival, the school is still in desperate need of more funding.
‘As a special school, we provide education to children who have intellectual disabilities and we care for many children from families who are from poor socio-economic circumstances,’ said Girvin

‘Our school relies on fund-raising to be sustainable and a day such as our carnival is an opportunity for us to showcase the talent and level of commitment from our educators and support staff.

‘We request our community to support our ‘Sponsor a Child’ project, a donation towards our school fees collection.

Only 24% of our families at school can afford to pay our school fees of R170 per month.’
