THE wife of Thulani Ntshangase whose decomposed body was found dumped on a railway line in Dukuduku last year, says she is relieved the three men responsible for killing her husband have been found guilty.
‘It won’t bring him back and it won’t change my life or take away the pain but I just wanted justice to be done,’ said Khanyi Nkwanyana, his wife.
Nkwanyana, who attended the trial since it began in June 2016, was present in court on Tuesday when Lethukuthula Mhlungu, Celimpilo Cele and Nhlanhla Gwala were found guilty of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
‘Even though it was torture for me to go there and see them in court every time, I had to go and hear for myself and not hear from someone else everything that happened in court.
‘Even when I had to testify, I was shaking but I had to do it. And it is a relief that it’s almost over,’ she said.
Ntshangase, a father of three, was killed in April 2016 by three men he had offered a lift from Jozini. Ntshangase was on his way home in Mtubatuba.
Mtubatuba police spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa said: ‘The deceased, who was driving a Toyota Tazz, offered the men a lift from Jozini to Mtubatuba. However along the way, they hijacked his vehicle and dispossessed some of his other belongings before killing him and dumping his body.’
The 44-year-old was found with gunshot wounds to his head and chest with his hands tied.
Nkwanyana says her husband’s death has left a huge void in the family.
‘We can’t get used to the fact that he is gone. We have three children, a 17-year-old who is in matric, a 11-year-old and a 5-year-old and he was the only one working so it has been difficult but we doing our best to move on,’ she said.
The convicted killers appeared in court today for sentencing.
