FORMER Empangeni High School Deputy Headboy Martin Swan is the team doctor for 2017 Super Rugby champions Crusaders.
Swan matriculated in 1989 and went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Stellenbosch.
Swan and his wife Debbie moved to Christchurch, New Zealand in 2002, where he specialised in emergency medicine.
In addition to practicing medicine in Christchurch, Swan has been the Crusaders rugby team doctor for the past 10 years and has stepped in as the All Blacks team doctor when the team plays in Christchurch.
Swan was part of the team that received gold medals at Emirates Airline Park recently when the Crusaders team lifted the Super Rugby Championships title for the eighth time.
