Mtubatuba teen with a passion for community upliftment

Christian Mkhize is heading to Durban for this weekend's Mr and Miss uShaka Marine World semi-finals

PLANNING on putting Mtubatuba on the map for the right reasons, a young Zululand model and entertainer is making good progress in his quest as he gets ready to wow the judges at this weekend’s semi-finals of Mr and Miss uShaka Marine World.

Bhekabasembo Christian Mkhize, a Grade 11 learner at Nkodibe Secondary School, who has as much of a charitable heart as he does drive to get ahead in the world of entertainment, has big plans for his community, among others getting the youth back onto the straight and narrow.

Holder of the title Mr Unique KZN – First Prince, Christian spends his afternoons co-hosting a local radio show which airs his slot, Fashion Style with Chris.

He is looking forward to this weekend’s semi-finals of Mr and Miss uShaka Marine World and says if he wins, he will be the best ambassador that he can be.

Founder and Director of the Bhekabasembo Foundation, Christian uses his good standing in the community to help give back and motivate other youths by organising various talent shows and other functions in and around Mtubatuba.

‘I feel I am an ideal person to help motivate other young people in my community because I’m part of the youth that comes from a disadvantage background,’said Christian.

‘I also plan to host our matric dance in a way that shows my fellow youths they can enjoy themselves without drinking alcohol or using other substances.

‘I want to put a stop to situations where we find teenagers drinking alcohol, thinking that’s the only way they can have fun.’

‘If anyone is willing to join me in my community upliftment quest, I can be contacted on 079 1576764.’
