Women are the pillars of society

King Cetshwayo District Mayor Nonhle Mkhulisi encouraged women to always remember the strength and power they hold

KING Cetshwayo District Mayor Nonhle Mkhulisi encouraged women to always remember the strength and power they hold.

Mkhulisi was celebrating women at the Mayoral Women’s Month celebration held at Nzalabantu sports field in Mbonambi on Sunday.

She pleaded with women to allow that strength to be the driving force in their daily lives.

‘God gave women indescribable strength and power. Women have the shoulders to carry the struggles of her family. We are the support system and pillars of our homes.’

Mkhulisi said women today must draw strength and courage from the women of 1956 who led a march against the pass laws.

She also called on women to participate in growing the country’s economy.

The event was attended by more than 80 women from the community, who were also entertained by gospel singer Thobekile Mkhwanazi.

The mayor along with Deputy Mayor Alice Mthembu donated blankets, gardening tools and walking sticks to the elderly.
