Crossroads Teen Centre needs tutors

Many learners are coming to us seeking help with maths, physics and science in preparation for their final exams next term

THE Crossroads Teen Centre in Empangeni is in desperate need of volunteers to help tutor learners.

‘Many learners are coming to us seeking help with maths, physics and science in preparation for their final exams next term.

‘The problem is we only have four volunteer tutors, but they have other commitments in the mornings and can help us only in the afternoons.

‘We used to have many more, but they are no longer available because they are busy with work and don’t have free time,’ said Crossroads Teen Centre Manager, Dezi Laatz.

‘We need tutors for this term only, from Mondays to Fridays, depending on how many there are, to help prepare the learners for next term’s exams,’ said Laatz.

She said they are looking for anybody well versed in maths, physics and life sciences, or university students with time to spare to help the learners.

‘We also try to get matric pupils to sit with a Grade 8 learner and help them with their subjects,’ Laatz said.
