AN Empangeni mother became the victim of a vicious dog attack last Friday evening.
Petra Frenzel had a huge chunk of her left calf mauled by an American Bulldog outside a home in Empangeni just before 7pm.
According to Petra’s husband Ray, his wife and their three children went to a home to drop off some products.
‘Petra and my youngest daughter Sonja (6) got out of the vehicle and pressed the buzzer. The owners opened the electric gate and that’s when the dog rushed towards them.’
According to Ray, the dog initially tried to attack Sonja, but Petra’s motherly instinct quickly kicked in and she swept up her daughter, pushed her into the car and slammed the door shut.
‘The dog then attacked my wife and latched onto her calf.’
