RBIDZ donates computers to SANCA

SANCA Zululand Chairman Bonginkosi Mnguni said the donation of computers has lifted a heavy burden off the shoulders of the organisation and the staff who can now fully focus on the fight against substance abuse

THE Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) has donated eight computers to the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA) in Empangeni on Friday.

‘We received a request from SANCA that they are in desperate need of computers as most of their computers were not functioning anymore. So the RBIDZ CSI committee deliberated and looked at what SANCA is doing for the community and they made the decision that the organisation should be assisted.

‘We have donated the computers so they will be able to continue with the services that they are offering to the community through this facility,’ RBIDZ CSI Representative Zodwa Zikalala said.

SANCA Zululand Chairman Bonginkosi Mnguni said the donation of computers has lifted a heavy burden off the shoulders of the organisation and the staff who can now fully focus on the fight against substance abuse.

‘There aren’t enough words to express our appreciation to the RBIDZ. As committee members we worry when we sit at meetings and get reports about the aging equipment in the office, which makes it difficult to keep records and every now and again computers are crashing with no money to get IT support,’ he said.

Mnguni said the donation is RBIDZ’s contribution towards the ongoing fight against drugs and substance abuse.

‘We are involved in a horrific fight against drug and substance abuse and it’s a fight I’m not sure whether we are winning or losing because we continue to hear terrible stories. This is a fight that is getting more and more difficult by the day.

‘And as we work in the office with clients and produce reports, we need these computers as part of the work we do. This is a tremendous contribution,’ Mnguni said.
