Partial lunar eclipse tonight

If you’re in Africa, Europe, Asia or Australia, watch the sky tonight just after dusk

IT’S not fair that Americans get to enjoy a total solar eclipse later in August and we get nothing.

As consolation, we are getting a little lunar treat tonight (Monday evening, 7 August).

If you’re in Africa, Europe, Asia or Australia, watch the sky tonight just after dusk.

Starting at 5.15pm, the full moon will pass through the northern part of the Earth’s dark umbral shadow, producing a partial lunar eclipse.

It will look as if a chunk of the top right hand side of the moon is missing.

The partial lunar eclipse is expected to peak at 8.20pm and end by 10.50pm.
