Young Zululand rugby player needs support

The international tour would open doors for talented young Zululand player, but he needs financial support

TALENTED young Richards Bay rugby player Manelisi Ntuli has been given a golden opportunity to take a step up in his career, but needs some help getting there.

The Grade 7 Arboretum Primary School learner was scouted at an U/13 invitational tour in Riebeek Valley in the Western Cape.

Based on his performance, Manelisi was chosen by selectors for a national squad to tour France and Spain.

‘This is an extraordinary achievement and one that Manelisi has been working hard towards,’ said mother Ntombifuthi Mdluli.

But she fears their excitement may be short lived as the family cannot afford the costs of the international tour.

‘If anyone can find it in their hearts to help out, any contribution would be most welcome,’ she said.

Manelisi plays for the Zululand Primary School U/13B team as loose-forward and lock.

The team is set to leave Cape Town on 27 September and will play three matches.

While a tour kit valued at R1 500 will be sponsored for each player by Travel and Sport, the bulk of the cost is for each family’s account.

Ntombifuthi can be contacted on 083 4580555.
