Help needed for destitute Mzingazi granny
The bulk of the house has been paid for, leaving only funding for roofing, door frames and doors still needed
FOR Mzingazi CPF Chairperson Sharon Mdletshe, putting a roof over the head of Gogo Khoza and her grandchildren is top of her priority list after the 80-something grandmother lost her home in a devastating fire in October.
Since the fire Khoza, who relies on her meagre pension to feed and clothe herself and 12 grandchildren, has been living in appalling conditions and are suffering in the winter cold.
‘Shortly after the fire I managed to raise R10 000 from a businessman who heard about Gogo Khoza’s situation,’ said Mdletshe.

‘This money has allowed me to build a new house for her, which is now up to roof level, but more funding for door frames, doors and roofing is needed.’
So close to her goal of seeing the family in a warm, dry home, all Mdletshe needs now are four door frames, two doors and asbestos roofing.
According to Mdletshe, Khoza has appealed to three local councillors for help, to no avail.
‘Her situation is dire. I just want her to have a beautiful Christmas this year.’
If anyone, whether individual or business, is able to help put a roof over Granny Khoza’s head in time for Christmas or before, Sharon Mdletshe, who is overseeing this project, can be contacted on 083 8723384.
