Beloved club owner dies in a tragic accident

Zululand mourns NUF Café owner’s tragic death

CONDOLENCES have been pouring in from all over the region for well known Zululand club owner and philanthropist Bhekisani Sibusiso ‘Stefani’ Cebekhulu, who died on Friday afternoon in a car accident.

Stefani, as he was known to Zululanders, lost his life after his car collided with a truck near the Msundunzi Bridge around 4pm.

He died at the scene.

Stefani was an owner of a well-known establishment, NUF Café in Ngwelezana and an employee at the Mkhanyakude Municipality.

‘It’s still unbelievable and heartbreaking. My brother loved his family and we don’t know how to move forward without him,’ said young brother Lesedi Mbuyazi.

He was known for creating platforms for local artists and for initiating township tourism.

Thabani ‘Mrajuju’ Mncube, his right hand man who worked closely with him, said his tragic passing was still a shock to many Zululanders and ‘the region’s entertainment scene will never be the same’.

‘He took a huge risk and developed a platform for young artists to showcase their talents. He was a father, friend, mentor and brother for us all,’ said Mrajuju.

Since Stefani’s passing, social networks have been flooded with messages of condolences from grief-stricken Zululanders, national and local musicians.

‘He had so much love for everyone, especially to us in the entertainment industry. We are truly saddened by his passing and it is something we won’t get over anytime soon,’ said well-known master of spin Amenisto Gumede.

TV presenter and actress Dumo Cebekhulu, said she is still grappling to come to terms with Stefani’s passing.

‘He was a brother to me and we had plans for the area. His club was my home and his attitude towards all us was incredible,’ said Dumo.

Zululanders will host several memorial services around the region with the main remembrance at NUF Café and others in Melmoth on Thursday (today).

His funeral service will be at Assemble of God in Ngwelezana on Saturday.
