Gentle Touch Foundation (GTF) to host a Youth Soccer Tournament and Family Fun Day

YOUNGSTERS can look forward to some exciting sport action and fun in the sun on Saturday, 5 August when community project, Gentle Touch Foundation (GTF) hosts a Youth Soccer Tournament and Family Fun Day.

Taking place at the Brackenham Sports Grounds from 9am to 3pm, youngsters can compete in the six-a-side soccer tournament for U12 and U16 at the cost of R10 per player or a variety of fun field events.

According to tournament sports coordinator, Chace Lucas there will be a limit of eight teams in each category and registrations will close for team submissions on the 2 August.

For those not competing in the soccer matches there will be loads of other fun activities, jumping castles, face painting, field events and fun races.

The event aims to promote sport development among the youth and also for parents, families and members of the public to enjoy a relaxed afternoon with the youth.

‘We are appealing to our parents and community members to join us for the day and to cheer on our youth during the sport and fun activities.

‘Our youth should see sport as not only competitive but as a fun activity, which also builds discipline, fitness and social skills.’

As a sports management graduate and high school sport coach, Lucas takes a keen interest in sport development and is hoping to expose the youngsters to other sporting codes as well.

Lucas is in the process of establishing a sports academy and has big plans for sport development in Richards Bay.

The event is aimed at raising funds for an end of year excursion for all youngsters who have been attending the GTF monthly Teens Talk sessions, where girls and boys participate in interactive dialogues which focus on equipping the teenagers with life skills.

If any individuals or businesses would like to sponsor any prizes or host an activity, please contact Chace on 082 5175381.
