A TRAGIC car accident on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a young husband and father, leaving the family and local community reeling from shock.
Empangeni resident, Edwin Moodley had been travelling along Cinnamon Crescent, Brackenham around lunchtime when his vehicle was involved in the fatal head-on collision.
The 29-year-old died at the scene and the Fire and Rescue Department had to use the jaws of life to extricate his body from the vehicle.
The sole occupant of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

A wonderful husband, son and loving father, Edwin was known as a ‘real and true’ person with a ‘soft and kind heart’.
Those closest to him added that ‘what you saw was what you got from him’.
Friends, relatives and loved ones took to social media this week to express their condolences, grief and shock at the untimely death.
His passing leaves a huge void within the family, who suffered the same fate over four years ago, when Edwin’s older brother was also killed in an accident.
Moodley leaves behind his wife, Tracy and their two young children.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at Good Tidings Fellowship in Brackenham from noon.
