THERE will be a feast for local soccer lovers this weekend as no fewer than seven professional teams contest the annual KZN Premier’s Cup.
Hosted by the Department of Sports and Recreation in conjunction with King Cetshwayo District Municipality, the clubs will use this tournament to prepare for the PSL and NFD season that lies ahead.
Among them will the newly formed Richards Bay FC, who will be looking for good crowd support at the uMhlathuze Stadium as they take on Amazulu, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United, uThongathi FC, Golden Eagles and Real Kings.
The tournament will feature three matches on Saturday, at 10am, 12am and 3pm, with two semi-finals and the final scheduled for Sunday.
Prizegiving will follow Sunday’s final, with each participating team receiving R550 000 in lieu of prize money for the winner, which will help them with their logistics to prepare for the upcoming season.
