Meerensee CPF puts brakes on Richards Bay’s drunk drivers

Patrollers put brakes on crime on Richards Bay's roads

MEERENSEE Community Policing Forum (CPF) patrollers were out in full force during the early hours of Saturday morning to curb drunken driving in the city.

Members stopped eight drivers under the influence of alcohol, found three unlicensed vehicles and a bakkie with 19 passengers on the back.

‘We again urge the uMhlatuze Traffic Department to assist us,’ said Meerensee CPF member Corrie Pretorius.

‘Driving under the influence is an epidemic costing taxpayers millions and taking countless lives daily.

‘We thank the Richards Bay SAPS for their high visibility and patrols in Meerensee.

‘We also wish to thank all our patrollers for their voluntary time and effort.’
