THE body of a 15-year-old boy was recovered by the Empangeni SAPS K9 and Search and Rescue unit on Sunday morning at a dam in the Ezibayeni area.
It is reported that a number of children were swimming in the dam on Saturday afternoon when the boy is believed to have drowned.
‘We received the call on Saturday night but we could not do a proper assessment in the dark so we had to wait until the morning,’ said W/O Adriaan de Villiers of the SAPS K9 and Search & Rescue unit.
‘We were at the scene early on Sunday morning and made use of the pendulum search technique in water of about 2-3 metres in depth.
‘We successfully recovered the body of the teenager,’ said De Villiers.
