RUGGA Rhinos Golden Oldies Richards Bay to take on the French Legends

RUGGA Rhinos Golden Oldies Richards Bay players Joe Oelofse and Chris van Rooyen have been included in the South African SANGORA (South African National Golden Oldies Rugby Association) squad that will take on the French Legends team on Saturday at Emirates Park, Johannesburg.

This is the first time that these two rugby stalwarts, who have been part of the Rugga Rhinos for 15 years, have made the South African SANGORA side and are eager for a tough encounter.

But lock forward Oelofse and front rower van Rooyen are no newcomers to the big stage.

Both players plied their trade on the provincial scene for many years earlier in their careers and were included in the SANGORA Presidents team in 2015 and 2016.

What makes this selection special is that they are the only two players, of KZN’s nine clubs, included in the squad.

Kick-off is scheduled for 11am and is one of a few games planned as pre-games for the Springbok and French clash scheduled for 5pm.

Oelofse (42) and Van Rooyen (51) were selected for the squad based on past performances.

The Rugga Rhinos Golden Oldies Richards Bay side will take on Hluhluwe Golden Oldies at the Hluhluwe Rugby Club on Saturday, 1 July at 3pm.
