Youth awareness campaign in Ntambanana

A number of motivational speakers will address the youth and local artists and traditional dancers will entertain the crowds

IN commemoration of Youth Day tomorrow, 28-year-old Nomcebo Mthembu is rallying the community of Somopho in Ntambanana to come out in their numbers for a youth awareness campaign.

Mthembu, with the help of various sponsors, says the campaign titled ‘walking away from teenage pregnancy and taking a stand against substance abuse, crime and violence’, will commence with a walk to the Macekane sports ground.

A number of motivational speakers will address the youth and local artists and traditional dancers will entertain the crowds.

‘Schools will also participate in activities and there will be prizes for participants.

‘We want to empower the youth to make the right decisions for themselves and to remind them that every decision comes with consequences,’ Nomcebo said.

‘Seeing that our youth seems to have lost direction, we hope to bring change to help them see beyond a life of crime, drugs and focus on obtaining skills to contribute to the economy,’ she said.
