Richards Bay resident caught out by online car sale fraudster
Fraud is one of the fastest growing crimes in our region and people need to be vigilant in order to protect themselves against becoming victims

A CASE of fraud was opened at the Richards Bay Police Station at the weekend after a Veldenvlei man fell victim to an online advert for a seemingly non-existent vehicle.
According to the police report, the complainant, after scouring online adverts for a new vehicle, found the one he intended to buy.
He contacted the ‘seller’, who went by the name of ‘George’, and agreed to pay the deposit to secure the purchase.
