eNseleni man’s desperate appeal for help

Nseleni man seeks help to permanently remove abnormal growths

LIVING with facial abnormalities for the past five years has been a major challenge for Nseleni resident Thulani Lumbela, who has battled to secure a job because of his appearance.

Having worked as a security guard for many years, the 36-year-old says the massive protrusions on his face have been a hindrance in securing a job and has left him with low self-esteem.

Despite having had surgery to remove the growths in 2014, they grew back soon after and he is now looking for a permanent solution.

Lumbela said the abnormal growths started as little bumps which he believed was caused by shaving, but they continued to grow and eventually started bleeding.

‘I have lost my confidence because people are always staring at me. some think I am criminal because the growths look like gunshot wounds,’ he said.

Lumbela was warned there was a possibility that the growths would return after surgery, but he is hoping there are other alternatives which can help him.
