Local business owners inspired at Empangeni Indaba
Locals took advantage of the My Business Indaba in Empangeni
INSPIRATION was the name of the game when local business owners took advantage of a recent small business workshop in Empangeni
The two-day workshop was headed by the Ithala Group, with women development the core focus.
The ‘My Business Indaba’ was packed with inspirational talks, advice, direction and opportunities for youth, women in communities, current small business owners and those who aspire to get into business.
‘With development at the core our of mandate, we are obligated to serve the most vulnerable and we believe key to this is enabling our most ambitious, innovative and productive businesses to grow,’ said Ithala Group Chief Executive, Yvonne Zwane.
Attendees said the workshop helped them better understand business, find new ways to conduct their business and seek financial assistance to fund key resources.
‘Such workshops are eye-openers for us. For example my business is not registered and the obvious next step is to register my business and seek financial support,’ said business owner Mbongiseni Ndlovu.

Over the past three years Ithala has funded 684 businesses and invested R875-million for the creation of 7 917 jobs.
Women-owned enterprises comprise 28% of Ithala’s loan book, while 39% supported youth businesses.
This workshop will also be held at the Ezibukweni Community Hall in Jozini on 20 and 21 June.
Entrepreneurs can also take advantage of the initiative at Manguzi on 4 and 5 July.
