Mud and guts racing in Mbuzi Challenge at eShowe

THE Mbuzi Challenge was completed over three routes on Saturday, with riders being tested on all levels – endurance and skill.

The event started and finished at the eShowe Sports Club and the route took the riders into the cane fields, forests and rural areas west of eShowe.

They had three options, depending on their ability. The 40km extreme route which was navigated by GPS, a marked 25km intermediate and a 18km novice routes.

Only two riders met the cut-off on the extreme route and were allowed a second lap, while the rest of the field had to settle for only one loop.

Most riders returned to base caked in mud and exhausted, but were very complimentary of the track and the organisation.

Organisers eShowe Off Road Riders thanked the sponsors Ride High Yamaha Richards Bay, KTM Durban, KC Meats, Alpha Security, Kingdom Builders Depot, Rocket Racing, Funky Functionz, eShowe Rugby Club and the eShowe Sports Pub.
