ANC disrupts Jozini budget meeting

Members disrupted a meeting, calling two other ANC members 'sell-outs'

ON Monday ANC members disrupted the Jozini Municipality‘s Executive Committee budget meeting, accusing the two ANC members in attendance of being ‘sell-outs’.

This is according to Jozini Municipality DA Counsellor Nontobeko Ngubane.

The Jozini Municipality, now governed by the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) following last week’s by-election, last year faced numerous challenges in electing its office bearers owing to a stalemate between the IFP and the ANC.

Ngubane said the ANC has once again sought to derail service delivery to the community of Jozini by disturbing an integral part of the municipality’s key function, that of finalising the budget.

Ngubane said it was unacceptable that the community is held at ransom by these undemocratic tactics of the uncaring ANC in KwaZulu-Natal.

‘The attendance of the two ANC councillors ensured a quorum was met so that a budget plan for the municipality could finally be tabled. The DA will not permit a deterioration of service delivery to our communities, and we will ensure that the voices of the electorate are heard.’

Ngubane applauded the prompt response from the SAPS in defusing the disorderly conduct by the ANC to ensure that the meeting proceeded.

‘The ANC has allowed thuggery to become a recurring feature in local politics, but the DA will continue to fight for a free and fair society,’ Ngubane stressed.
