Teen songbird scoops top title

RICHARDS Bay teenager Zukiswa Mbuyazi scooped first prize and outperformed thousands of hopefuls in the R&B musical category during the KwaZulu-Natal uShaka Marine Star Search competition in Durban last week

The 17-year-old rising star began her musical career at an early age and have pocketed many awards, including recording her first demo with gospel music giant and Joyous Celebration director Lindelani Mkhize in 2010.

The 2012 Zululand Idols winner and Grade 10 pupil at Aquadene Secondary School, says music is something she loves and understands.

‘I am so grateful to have a family that supports me every time and drives me where I need to go. Winning the uShaka award and certificate was a dream come true.’
