Richards Bay Coal Terminal supports Zululand schools

A R100 000 cheque as well as 25 computers were handed to six local schools

SEVERAL local schools benefitted from generous donations from Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) this month.

The company not only handed over a cheque of R100 000 to Mbuyiseni High, but also donated 25 computers to Welabasha High, Obuka Senior Secondary, Ezwenilethu Senior Secondary, Mbuyiseni High and Nkosithandile Senior Secondary.

‘RBCT handed over the cheque to Mbuyiseni High at the Excellence Awards ceremony held by the King Cetshwayo Department of Education at Umfolozi TVET College in eSikhaleni as a pledge to assist the school with anything they may require to improve its current status,’ the company said in a statement.

The school has been selected based on the fact that it is performing well, is highly disciplined and has consistently produced good results amid its challenging circumstances.

RBCT said computers were prioritised since computer science has become one of the fastest growing fields around the world.

‘This is one of the biggest reasons RBCT is giving young people the opportunity to learn computer skills.

‘Technology has taken over the world and we would like learners in the King Cetshwayo District to compete on an equal footing with learners from other districts and provinces.’
