Vehicle ‘disintegrated’ in N2 collision near Mandeni

ONE person died in a horrific accident on the N2 just past Mandeni.
According to Paul Herbst of IPSS Medical Rescue, the driver of a white VW Golf is said to have lost control of his vehicle in the inclement weather, and collided head on with a truck.
‘The driver was heading southbound on the N2, just past Mandeni, when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with the truck head on.
‘The driver of the truck didn’t sustain any injuries.
‘The vehicle disintegrated on impact,’ he said.

This is the only reported critical accident that has taken place in the region this weekend.
Earlier this morning uMhlathuze Fire and Rescue told the ZO that there had been no serious reported accidents in the region.
uMhlathuze Fire and Rescue have been inundated with request and calls for help after numerous homes were flooded due to on-going heavy rains and winds.
