WATCH: Monster mamba scramble at Empangeni garage

A local snake handler was surprised to be confronted by a three-meter long female Black Mamba at a garage site after being misinformed that it was a Rock Python

WITH summer drawing to a close, a local snake handler has warned the public to be extra cautious as the winter season approaches.

This after Jaco Dercksen and his two sons captured a three-meter long Black Mamba hiding in the chassis of a truck in Empangeni on Sunday.

Dercksen told the ZO that the cold-blooded nature of snakes will see the reptiles seeking warmer places to hide against the shivers of winter.

Jaco said he was busy dealing with another snake sighting in Mtunzini when he got the Empangeni call.

‘I was contacted by the owners of Jackson’s Motors in Empangeni.

‘A security employee reported he had seen a ‘Rock Python’ slithering under the truck.
