Eskom promises to resolve Mtunzini power woes
A number of business owners and residents in Mtunzini said they have been seriously affected by the regular outages which started as far back as November last year

MTUNZINI’s ongoing power cuts has been attributed to an ‘intermittent fault caused by a number of mini-substations which have been identified as the problem.’
This is according to Eskom, who this week notified the ZO via email that they are aware of the problem which has left Mtunzini residents and businesses in the dark for several hours at a time over the past few months.
Eskom KZN Communications Officer, Joyce Zingoni, said that they are in the process of replacing the affected mini substations.
‘All the faults that affect Mtunzini have been identified and repaired.
‘Many of the faults occurred on the sub-transmission (88KV) line which, on each occasion, affected all the distribution substations that are fed from this line.
‘Tests were run to determine the cause, and a number of mini-substations in Mtunzini were identified.
‘These will be replaced during this financial year (2017/2018).
