Good Samaritans lend a helping hand

‘I cannot even begin to tell you how many happy tears I have cried…all because of kind and generous strangers.’ said Kayleigh Ginsberg

EMPANGENI’S Eugene Zietsman has been hailed a hero after his act of kindness could bring closure to a family who lost a loved one.

Zietsman recently reacted to a Facebook post in which Ballito resident, Kayleigh Ginsberg, pleaded with the public to assist in bringing her brother’s ashes home from the UK.

The ZO spoke to Ginsberg whose brother, Tyson Shaw (28), moved to England a little over a year ago before he passed away.

‘To be honest, we don’t know what happened to him. He was found dead on 29 August in a hostel in England.

‘On 28 March this year an inquest was held to determine the cause of his death.

‘Sadly the result was an ‘open verdict,’ of which I queried the outcome, but was told that there was insufficient evidence and that we will never really know the cause of his death.’

Tyson Shaw (28), was found dead in a hostel in England last year. Since then, it has been a roller coaster ride for his sister Kayleigh in an attempt to get his ashes home to South Africa

Good Samaritans

‘I posted on a group on Facebook asking if anyone was travelling to the UK and if they could take my brother’s passport with them.’

Her brother’s passport would be required to bring his ashes back.

‘A friend, Frances Clark, who is currently in the UK, agreed to bring home Tyson’s ashes if she got his passport in time.

‘Eugene saw the request and called. He drove to my work right away to collect the passport,’ Ginsberg said.

Zietsman said he was driving on the N2 from Empangeni to Ballito when his wife saw the post on Facebook.

‘We made contact and drove straight to her work to collect Tyson’s passport.

‘I knew and could feel how important this was for Kayleigh and I just happened to be flying to London the following day,’ said Zietsman .

After landing in London, he handed over the passport to another Good Samaritan, Dylan Gordon, a friend of Tyson who collected his ashes, who in turn met with Kayleigh’s best friend, Frances, the following evening.

Ginsberg said she was about to lose complete faith in the situation, but a number of individuals showed her that true kindness still exists.

‘It’s remarkable how this story has changed my view on things.

‘Just when I thought we completely failed because I had no way of getting my brother’s passport over to the UK in time, a stranger named Eugene came forward.

‘God must have sent these awesome people into my path to show me goodness exists.’
