Empangeni community helps fire victims

Family friend Merinda Ackerman, with friends, has been collecting donations to help in their plight

COMMUNITY members have rallied around the Greeff family since their granny flat in Empangeni’s Jenner Road was gutted by fire last Wednesday morning.

It completely destroying all their belongings within a matter of minutes. Family friend Merinda Ackerman, with friends, has been collecting donations to help in their plight.

‘We really need groceries, toiletries, basic clothes items such as underwear, school shoes and socks, etc. ‘We also have a drop-off point for donations in Richards Bay, at 38 Raphia Palm in Arboretum.

According to Merinda, members of the public have already donated a single bed, fridge, a washing machine, some kitchenware, bedding items, curtains as well as clothing and shoes.

‘But they are still in need of a variety of items, and if anyone is willing to assist they can contact me on 081 5382331.’
