Transnet Port empowers ‘young men in the making’
TPT partnered with Tracker to host a programme at the Port of Richards Bay to empower young men to become positive role models
TRANSNET Port Terminals (TPT) partnered with Tracker to host a programme at the Port of Richards Bay to empower young men to become positive role models.
The annual programme, formally known as ‘Men in the Making’, took place at the harbour last Thursday, during which inspiring professionals also offered career guidance to Grade 10 to 12 learners from various local schools.
Terminal managers from TPT’s planning, operations, procurement and technical departments also took the youngsters on a guided tour of the terminal.
‘This year we requested port employees to invite and bring their own sons to work,’ said GM of KZN Operations, Bulk, Break-bulk & Cars, Amanda Siyengo.
‘We wanted to use this opportunity to show their children what their parents do on a day-to-day basis and demonstrate first-hand the pride we take in our work.
‘Every year this initiative allows us to educate and encourage our youth to grow up to be responsible citizens and future leaders of our country.’
