
THE matric class of 2016 in the King Cetshwayo District was commended for their improved pass rate performance of 63,42%, compared to the previous year’s 54%.
The 8% improvement was celebrated during the District Achievement Awards function held at the Umfolozi Casino Resort last week.

Among the schools recognised for their improved performance were Dover Combined School which achieved 71% (69,69% in 2015).
Others were Old Mill High School (80,7%), King Zwelithini High School (82%), Hluma High School (86%), Khombindlela High School (87%), Ziphozonke High School (93%), Empangeni High School (95%), BirdsView Academy (100%), St Catherine’s High School (100%) and eShowe High School (100%).

The gala dinner was addressed by Dr Sifiso Mazibuko, the Regional Secretary of the Progressive Professional Forum who commended the effort put up by educators in producing the 63% results.

Other speakers who conveyed messages of support included Tronox South Africa’s Manager for Sustainable Development and Public Affairs, Nick Bulunga, and King Cetshwayo District Mayor Ntombenhle Mkhulisi.

In handing over the certificates, District Director David Chonco pleaded with school principals to continue working hard despite the numerous challenges they face.
