Smashing end to school squash league

The Zululand Schools Squash league came to an end on Friday at the Richards Bay Country Club, where Albero Els and Tessa Gouge managed to win their respective sections

Albero  Els and Tessa Gouge smashed their way past competitors to leap frog straight to the top of their respective sections during the annual Zululand High School’s squash league.

The league, which started four weeks ago, saw 18 children participating from all areas of Zululand.

Ten boys and eight girls battled it out in a round robin system, collecting log points per game every Friday at the Richards Bay Country Club.

‘This year’s league produced some great action with close games. The level of squash has certainly improved amongst the youngsters, which proves positive for Zululand’s future. A high level of squash was played this year, which indicates that this league is working to further squash development among local youth,’ said co-organiser Rankin Grace.
