UPDATE: City of uMhlathuze acts swiftly on Thuthukani school road repair

The school was visited by city officials on Monday after the ZO reported on the puddle riddled road

THUTHUKANI Special School have expressed their gratitude to the uMhlathuze Municipality who responded swiftly to pleas to attend to the poor state of the road that leads to the school.

The school was visited by city officials on Monday after the ZO reported on the puddle riddled road.

The road caters for both Thuthukani Special School and Dover Farm School.

City officials began work on the road on Tuesday in an attempt to make life easier for buses that transport hundreds of learners to both schools.

‘We are extremely grateful for the city heeding our call. They acted so quickly in the interest of the community,’ said Thuthukani School Principal Martie Combrink.

Meanwhile the Department Manager of uMhlathuze Transport, Roads, Storm Water and Coastal Management, TM Mgomezulu, told the ZO that the road is expected to be complete today (Thursday).

‘We are scraping away the old surface and will lay down tar to smooth out the road.’

He said the city will monitor the road in future to ensure that it is well maintained.
