UPDATE: Birdswood house fire cause determined

IT has been confirmed that the fire that engulfed the garage at a Birdswood home last Wednesday began as a result of an electrical fault.

The fire ultimately destroyed a luxury Chev Captiva.

It is understood the blaze began next to the car and soon ignited the ceiling and roof of the lock-up garage.

‘A neighbour arrived on the scene before the flames had touched the car but was unable to move it to safety,’ said the authorities.
