A 27-year-old woman was stabbed and sexually assaulted along a footpath in Birdswood on Monday morning.
According to Richards Bay SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Debbie Ferreira, she was walking through the greenbelt pathway at about 10am after returning from a nearby tuck shop when she was attacked.
A man confronted her, demanding cash and her cellphone.
When she indicated that she did not have anything, he drew a knife and stabbed her several times before raping her.
