Community supports swim campaign

DESPITE the failure to better their personal entry record, the sixth annual Rotary
Global Swimmarathon hosted by the St Catherine’s EarlyAct Club and supported by the Rotary Club of Empangeni on Saturday, was another success.
‘We had hoped to improve our entry record of 131, but fell short with 116 entries. But this did not place a damper on the event as everyone had fun,’ said St Catherine’s EarlyAct Club educator Denise Brook.
The event raised R3 458 that will be donated to the ‘End Polio Now’ campaign.
Competitors had to complete four 25m laps as contribution towards the cause.
The school’s houses held a competition to see which one would complete the longest distance, and St Martins won after swimming 4 400m.
